Red Dammar - Agathis Loranthifolia Rich

Beech tree resin is a member of conifers (gymnosperms) which is a plant native to Indonesia. Damar spread in Maluku, Sulawesi, to the Philippines (Palawan and Samar). In Java, this plant is cultivated to be taken of his lymph or hars. The resin is processed to be used as copal.

Fertilization is often started at the age of 15 years and aetiap years continuously, especially in mid-February to April and August to October. Seeds contained in fruits are broken above the cone and spread the seeds are winged.
A large tree, height up to 65m; trunked round cylindrical with a diameter of more than 1.5 m. Pepagan out grayish with a slight redness, flaking in small pieces.
Leaves elliptic, 6-8 × 2-3 cm, tapering towards the rounded tip. Ripe pollen cones 4-6 × 1.2 to 1.4 cm; ripe seed cones ovoid-shaped, 9 to 10.5 × 7.5 to 9.5 cm.
Damar grows naturally in lowland rain forest up to an altitude of about 1,200 m above sea level. But in Java, this plant is mainly grown in the mountains.
Roots shallow and wide. Canopy cones, branches of the lowest nearly flat, over and above making a sharp angle with the trunk. leaves dark green, shiny and light green in the bud.
The use of wood for wood only common tools, usually for a crate or a wooden match. But the most important outcome of this tree is Copal. Copal can be distinguished by: 1. Copal when burned provide a large fire, but the resin does not melt. 2. Copal almost do not have the room containing the air but in a lot of resin. 3. Copal is not easily crushed by hand, but not amber. 4. Copal completely soluble in pure alcohol, not resin.
Now the wood has become an important industrial wood, because wood into pulp and paper materials.
